After the success of 2.0, Rajinikanth has returned to cinemas with Petta. Directed by Kartik Subbaraj, the film also contains Vijay Sethupati, Trisha, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Simran and Bobby Simha.
Subbarao is a huge fan of Rajinikanth and he revealed in the film's audio launch that Thaliva was the one who asked him if he had any script. Music composer Aniruddha Ravichandran has been successful in promoting films with "Marna Mas" and "Ullala".
Petta struggled with Ajith-starred film Vishwasam and it was seen how both films are fare and if their release on the same day affects the business of these two movies.
Peta is expected to be a Raj typical Rajinikanth film opposite Kabbali and Kala. This is also the first Pongal release of the superstar in 24 years. The film has promised a comeback for the old Rajinikanth and it seems that there is a "massive" moment in line with the taste of his fans.
