New York Times tells Trump: Don't call reporters enemies of the people
The New York Times publisher has urged President Donald Trump to continue labeling of "enemies of the people" journalists and said that it can "cause violence" against the media. After tweeting about this, Mr. Sulluzberger gave details of his off-the-record meeting public.
In his initial tweet, the President said that this is a "very good" meeting.
But later he accused the media of risking the lives of people through their reporting.
His first tweet read: "Talking about a large number of fake news from the media and how the fake news phrase has changed, 'enemy of the people'."
They did not mention their repeated use of the phrase.
The New York Times issued its statement saying that he "has decided to respond to his response to the speaker's president".

Reality check: Journalists are fast in the attack?
Mr. Sulluzberger said that he had accepted the meeting with Mr Trump to raise concerns about the President's "Depressed Anti-Press Rotorik".
He said that he told Mr. Trump that the phrase "fake news" was "false and harmful", but he said that he was more concerned about the "enemy of the people of his labeling journalists".
He said, "I have warned that this inflammatory language is contributing to the increase in threats against journalists and will become the cause of violence."
Mr Sulzberger said that he told the President that it was especially true in other countries, where he said that Mr. Trump's politics was being used by some governments to crack on journalists.
He said, "I had warned that it is putting life in jeopardy, that it was weakening the democratic ideals of our country, and that it was ending one of our country's largest exports: free speech And commitment to a free press. "
The New York Times publisher said that he was not asking Mr Trump not to criticize his newspaper if he was unhappy with his coverage but to "rethink his comprehensive attacks on journalism".

After making Mr. Sulluzberger's statement public, Mr. Trump responded that media reporting on "internal interactions of the government" actually "does not really hold journalists at risk but rather lives of many people".
A new type of normal BBC North America Correspondent by Anthony Jürcher For the first time, Donald Trump called the media "enemy of the people", it was insulting. Arizona Republican Senator Jeff Flake called it an example of the "unprecedented" White House attack on the free press.
The second, third, and fourth time, Mr. Trump used the phrase, it barely pronounced a tilt. The unique talent of this President - to take an action or opinion which once seemed insulting and transformed it into a new type of normal form.
Even when the words do not produce headlines, still, journalists still pay attention. When a newsroom was sprinkled with bullets in Maryland a few weeks ago, the threat of the profession - even in an established, "safe" western democracy - was very relieved.
Mr. Sulzberger tried to drive this point home in his last secret meeting with Mr Trump nine days ago.
The message, however, can not be obtained. In his tweet on Sunday morning, the President suggested that it is the media's mistake that he has labeled them "enemies of American people".
For Mr Trump, this kind of language - if this is a problem - then there is a problem fixing the media, not the person.
When Trump has called the enemies of the journalists of the people?
In February 2017, he tweeted that NBC, ABC, CNN and CBS were "enemies of American people" along with other outlets in New York Times. He later used the phrase during a conference next week.
In June this year, he again used the phrase on Twitter during a dispute over the short-term American policy of separating migrant children from their families on the US border.
Earlier this month, he responded with criticism of his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
