Atal Bihari Vajpayee's death: "It is a great misery that we inform about the sad demise of former Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 16.08.2018," AIIMS announced.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister and BJP killed, passed away on Thursday. He was 93 years old. Vajpayee was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in June. Many leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, visited BJP Vice-Chancellor in AIIMS. Modi met the doctors and questioned about Vajpayee's welfare. According to an official statement, he also met members of his family.

Born in 1924 in Gwalior, Vajpayee became the first non-Indian National Congress PM for a full five year period. In 2002, a US diplomat disclosed that Vajpayee persevered with India's demand for unconditional withdrawal of Pakistani troops and subsequently Nawaz Sharif got stuck in Washington's difficulties. Despite the war, Vajpayee also tried to promote bilateral relations with Pakistan.
