Akshay Kumar's forthcoming film, Gold sees him playing Tapan Das. The person who scouts and finds talent that will ultimately make up the team that won Independent India's first gold medal in the Olympics. While the film is a fictional story based on true events, it is yet to be seen how filmmakers have taken from the real story to make this play drama.

Independent India's first gold medal came from a field hockey team where the Indian team defeated Great Britain in the final. Tapan Das, played by Akshay Kumar, is largely motivated by the man who is still considered as the person who started the Olympic movement in India, Moin-Ul-Haq

Moin-ul-Haq was the chef-de-mission of the Indian Olympic team when India participated in London in 1948 as an independent country for the first time in the Olympics. Although the country was very upset at that time, Moin-ul-Haq saw the possibility of playing the game.

In collaboration with Patna, Moin-ul-Haq supported all sports. He will scout the talent and nurture them, he will also encourage those who have never played anything to take a game.

After his death in 1970, his name was changed to the name of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna. He was also honoured with Padmashree by the Government of India in 1970.

Moin-ul-Haq was not a player in the Olympics squad, nor was he a coach, in fact, he was the person who gave the Indian game a platform so that he could eventually build.

From the trailer of Gold, it seems that Akshay Kumar's character has shared the same passion for the game, which ultimately won India its first gold medal. Gold includes Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadan, Vineet Singh. Gold Release, August 15, directed by Reema Kagi.
